A Nutritionist’s Guide To Menopause

Every female will go through menopause at some stage in their lives.

For most of us, this will be somewhere between the ages of 45-55 years. But it could also be earlier or later than this. The average age in the UK is 51 years.

Just to put this into perspective, the average lifespan of a woman in the UK 100 years ago was less than 60 years. Women didn’t live long after menopause. Thankfully a lot has changed since then… the average lifespan for a woman in the UK in 2020 was around 83.

This means that you could be live over one-third of your life post-menopause.

I’m on a mission to help women to live this third of their lives with the best health and the best quality of life they can.

Nutrition and lifestyle can play a major part in managing the symptoms of peri/menopause and making this life stage as smooth as possible.

Peri/menopause can also be a critical window, a tipping point for your future health too.

What you eat, the quality of your sleep, how your move your body and, how you manage your stress all play a part.

It takes a balance of all these to achieve total wellbeing.

Here are 5 key areas we

Nourish – Your whole body. Ensuring you are getting all the essential nutrients for good health

Optimise – The key factors that can impact your health i.e. blood glucose balance ( & insulin) and gut health

Support – The biological systems and processes in your body that support hormone balance, good health and healthy ageing

Energise – Exercise and moving every day is an essential component of good health. The type of exercise and how much you exercise can matter too…

Balance – Rest and relaxation, the quantity and quality of your sleep, and how you manage stress can all impact your symptoms and your health
